Summary By the end of this training, the student with chronic pain will have gained essential knowledge and skills in three key areas of pain management. > In the Sleep module, they will be able to identify the key principles of sleep hygiene, recognize the relationship between insomnia and chronic pain, and implement strategies for creating a comfortable sleep environment and practicing relaxation techniques to improve sleep quality and overall pain management. > In the Relaxation Training module, the student will understand and apply various relaxation techniques, including diaphragmatic breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, and autogenic techniques, to reduce muscle tension and pain. They will be able to compare and contrast the benefits of different relaxation techniques and effectively operate these techniques to promote relaxation and alleviate chronic pain. > In the Therapeutic Recreation for Physical and Emotional Well-being module, the student will explore a range of therapeutic recreational activities to promote physical fitness, pain reduction, and overall well-being. They will outline relaxation techniques, gentle exercises, and mindfulness practices as part of pain management strategies and recognise the importance of social engagement and support in improving emotional health and pain management. Additionally, they will describe the use of creative expression through art therapy and music therapy to enhance emotional well-being and reduce stress, emphasising the therapeutic value of creative outlets in chronic pain management. Overall, this training equips the student with a multifaceted approach to managing chronic pain and improving their overall quality of life.
